I. About Strife
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Strife is an older Monarchy established in January 2001 on the Solclaim server in Asheron's Call.

When World of Warcraft went live in November 2004, the Strife guild was formed within 24 hours on the Horde Side of the Cenarius Server and has consistently remained a respected Top-Ten guild.

We have a great variety of people from around the world, all of whom like to share a fun and relaxing gaming experience. As casual gamers, our guild is fairly informal and low stress. Many of our members are mature individuals with families and responsibilities.

We often have scheduled weekend raids and spur of the moment quests/raids. We also have several members with professions that are maxed out, or near maxed out. Many guild members often offer free services to other guild members.

Most of our members are willing to help out with quests and information, however, excessive begging and/or asking for help, items, gold is not tolerated. Strife members are expected to follow >> World of Warcraft In-Game Policies <<, as well as maintaining a good name for themselves and the guild.

II. Guild Invites
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Strife has an open invite policy, any Officer can add to the guild.

IV. Strife Code of Conduct
---------------------------------------------------------------------

All Strife members are expected to follow >> World of Warcraft In-Game Policies <<, and maintain Strife's good name and reputation. Public begging or bragging, Ninja Looting, and generally dishonorable conduct is strictly forbidden and reports will be taken very seriously. Complaints brought against a Member of Strife by either another member or an outside party will be investigated by Guild Officers. Keep in mind that you are representing the name of Strife. We expect members to show a certain amount of restraint when posting in public forums, chatting in general channels, or grouping with non-guild mates.

V. Chat Manners
-------------------------------------------------------------------

All chat channels and our guild chat ("/g channel") are wonderful tools that help us to communicate and bring us a lot closer to other players.

In general, /g chat should be considered PUBLIC above all, meaning people should use better general manners and try to respect any unwitting or unwilling participants who happen to be in the communal chat channel. Everyone in the guild can hear /g chat, and it is turned on by default. Swearing, begging, bragging, cursing and l33t subjects should be avoided in /g chat. If it's not appropriate for the whole guild to hear, you may want to use /w or form a chat group/party and use /p.

The other operative word when dealing with the /g channel is RESPECT. Please be respectful to other people, even if they are not being totally respectful to you. If you have a problem with someone, please bring it to the Strife Private Forum or send a PM to the Guild Master or one of the Officers. If you need access to the Private Forum, please make a post on the general forum asking for access or send a PM to Admin.

That was annoying wasn't it? Spam is something that we also want to avoid in the guild chat and anywhere else for that matter. It's counterproductive to the extreme.
It's also something that can be subjective, different people see different things as spam. Just like any inappropriate behavior, mention it if it bothers you enough. If someone says you are spamming, try to tone it down a bit. Excessive asking and/or begging for items, gold, and help with quests will not be tolerated.

In the end, we all have different views on what's appropriate and everyone has/will cross some peoples lines. If you feel uncomfortable with a conversation or behavior, you should speak up. In turn, if someone mentions that your public conversation is not appropriate or disturbs them, you should consider making it less public.

Regardless, you should be civil and reasonable, even if you feel the other person isn't. There is by no means a hard and solid rule about what's appropriate. It's totally situational, within reason. The most important thing is that we are able to enjoy the game and each others company, that should always be our goal.

The above mentioned also applies on ALL public chat channels, such as "trade", "looking for group", and "zone".

Voice chat (Ventrilo):
The Voice Chat servers are available for your convenience, but be respectful of others using the channels. The general channels are fine for chit-chat, but please do not be disruptive to members in a group, instance or raid channel (it is fine to join and listen in).

Also, please use the "Push-To-Talk" feature in the voice client, if you are in a noisy environment that could unnecessarily trigger the microphone.

VI. General Instance Loot Rules
---------------------------------------------------------------------

If you aren’t sure what the loot rules are for a given run, ask.

For any green bind on equip (BOE) item, roll Greed. If you don't win the item and it is an upgrade for you (or more than one person), you can sort out the rolls and whatnot between whoever it is an upgrade for.  Sometimes if you are running with a geared group, it is easier to roll Need on the item, but make sure to call it out so people know.

For any bind on pickup (BOP) or purple item, pass (use the 'X' in the corner to close the loot box). Sometimes recipes are included here, because it is hard to determine quickly if the recipe is BOP or the item it makes is BOP.  Need is determined after everyone has passed so there is less of a chance of the item being "ninja'd".

Some items may have special utility to a certain class or profession. If everyone of that class or profession has it or they all pass, then it can be called out for as an upgrade by others. If no one needs it as an upgrade, it can be called out for as a backup item.

Do not loot in the middle of any battle. Wait until all enemies are dead, no matter how weak they might be. It is distracting having the pop up windows when you are trying to fight, and it also means that you are looting, rather than helping, when your teammates are fighting.

Do not loot while other members of your party are dead. This especially pertains to after you have killed bosses, and some members of your party might have died. The polite thing to do is to wait until all members are rezzed before looting. It's not going anywhere, but too many people become "kids on Christmas" before the boss's body has barely hit the ground.

Yes, mistakes do happen, just try to be courteous and follow these rules for our instance runs. If in doubt, please just pass.
